Dingqing Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Heihe Squadron of Qinghai Petroleum Survey Brigade named the Dingqing Layer. The Fourth Geological Brigade of Tibet Geological Bureau introduced and renamed the Dingqinghu formation in 1978.
Synonyms: The Dingqing Formation synonymous with the Dingqing Gr, the Dingqinghu Fm, the Qingshi Gr (Qingshi Fm).
Lithology and Thickness
The Dingqinghu Formation comprises purplish-red and greyish-green clastic shale and tuff interbedded with oil shale and marl. The thickness of the Dingqing Formation ranges from 300-1100m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Dingqinghu Formation unconformably overlies the Niubao Fm.
Upper contact
Upper boundary is unobservable. China Lexicon strat chart is confusing here; and usage seems very broad through northern Tibet-Qinghai?

Fossils
The Dingqinghu Formation contains fossils of Ostracodas (Cyprinotus, Candona, Ilyocypris), Charophtyes (Charites sadleri), Pollen, Insect, Cyprinid fish (Plesioschizothorax macrocephalus), Mammal (Plesiaceratherium).
